The University of Liverpool was one of the first civic (city) universities in the UK, founded in 1881. Today, the University offers over 300 degrees at undergraduate level, over 100 degrees at Masters level and opportunities for research in 54 broad subject areas.

The University is ranked 133 in the world (THES World University Rankings 2008) and is a member of the elite Russell Group of leading research-intensive UK universities.
